Lifestyle Diseases

Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine that originated in India and has been practiced for thousands of years. Ayurveda believes that health and wellness depend on a balance between the mind, body, and spirit. According to Ayurveda, each person has a unique constitution or prakriti, which is determined by the combination of three doshas or energies: vata, pitta, and kapha. Ayurveda offers various treatments for lifestyle disorders, such as stress, anxiety, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and insomnia. These treatments include dietary changes, herbal remedies, yoga, meditation, massage, and detoxification. Ayurveda aims to restore the harmony of the doshas and promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Panchakarma

Panchakarma

Panchakarma is a bio cleaning regimen intended to eliminate the toxic elements from the body and thereby enhance the quality of life. Panchakarma presents a unique approach of Ayurveda with specially designed five procedures of internal purification of the body. It is a procedure in which Utklista doshas (humours) are expelled out through the nearest route after Snehana and Swedana. It is a curative line of treatment for all diseases which are not amenable to Shamana Chikitsa.

The panchakarmas explained in ayurvedic classics are Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshana.

Panchakarma can also be administered in Swastha (healthy individual) as a preventive measure. Besides the application in the treatment of disease, they are also used as preparatory measures before surgery and before administration of Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy).

Why Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is mainly administered with the intention of Shodhana(cleaning). But along with Shodhana effect, it imparts other benefits like Brimhana, Rasayana, and Shamana etc. Along with Panchakarma its Upakramas like Udvartana, Utsadana, Abhyanga, Shirodhara etc being successfully practised in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders. Panchakarma and Para Panchakarma Procedures are widely useful in the treatment of Acute and Chronic disorders. In most of the acute manifested disorders, Ama or Agnimandhya will be associated. In such conditions directly Panchakarma cannot be administered. But for correcting Sama Stage and Agni Mandya Dipana –Pachana, Ruksha Svedana like Valuka Sveda, Churna Pinda Sveda etc may be employed and later on disease/Dosha specific Panchakarma can be employed.

Anorectal Diseases and Treatments at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre
  • Anorectal diseases, also known as anorectal disorders, encompass a range of conditions affecting the anus and rectum. The anus is the opening through which stool exits the body, while the rectum is the final section of the large intestine that holds stool before it is eliminated.
  • Common examples of anorectal disorders include hemorrhoids (swollen veins in the anorectal region), anal fissures (small tears around the anus), pilonidal cysts (abnormal growths near the cleft of the buttocks), anal fistulas (abnormal tunnels between the anal canal and skin), and rectal prolapse (protrusion of the rectum through the anus). Additionally, colorectal cancer, although not strictly an anorectal disease, can also affect the rectum and anus.
  • These conditions can cause a variety of symptoms, such as bleeding, pain, itching, swelling, or drainage. Anorectal disorders are prevalent and can significantly impact an individual's quality of life. Diagnosis typically involves reviewing symptoms, performing a visual inspection and digital rectal examination, along with specific tests as needed.
  • For conditions like hemorrhoids, minor irritations, and fecal incontinence, initial treatment often involves lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, and adjustments to bowel habits. However, it is crucial to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment, as early intervention can prevent further complications and improve overall anorectal health.
